The latest update was revealed by Mark Zuckerberg. He said: “Today we’re rolling out more features for end-to-end encrypted chats for Messenger – link previews, custom emoticons, themes, etc. We’re accelerating testing of default end-to-end encryption for more people in Messenger.”

Testing of Facebook Messenger’s default end-to-end encryption started in Meta and is gradually expanding. More users will gradually begin to notice in the coming months that some of their chats now offer an additional layer of security thanks to end-to-end encryption.

“We’ll be letting people know in these individual chat threads as they get upgraded. We know people will have questions about how we select and upgrade individual threads, so we wanted to make it clear that this is a random process. Chat Topics: To help you personalize and enhance your conversations in end-to-end encrypted chats, Messenger has included chat topics. You can now specify themes for chats with end-to-end encryption, including static colors and gradient themes.
Custom chat emoticons and reactions: To make your response more personalized In conversations with end-to-end encryption, you can access a full selection of emoticon reactions and customize the quick reaction panel.

Link previews: Links in end-to-end encrypted chats now have link previews, allowing you to see where they will take you before you click on them.
Active status: Let people know you’re online so they can decide when to call. You can also choose to disable this option if you wish to increase your privacy.
Bubbles on Android: While using other apps, you can read and respond to messages using bubbles (a circle with a photo of your friend). Once activated, a bubble will appear when a new message arrives.
